![]() ![]() The world itself is very pretty and pleasing. But dont buy this game unless you can deal with the restrictions I mentioned and you dont mind a very linear game. Not up to Biowares standards but still a nice way to spend some time. I played all the other LOTR games and this is a great effort. It is a very linear game that closely follows the story, there are a few incidental side quests but for sure you will be caught up with the story, at least I was. Would prefer more inventory for potions and stones etc. Lord of the Rings: War in the North is the first game in almost 5 years from heralded action RPG developer Snowblind Studios, the masterminds behind the excellent and well-received Baldur's Gate. ![]() The normal setting was way too hard for me, I was only ever able to play at easy level. The Not so good The check point system, no way to load a previous save, ridiculous. Simple potion making and upgrading armours is nice. I love the mirror you can change your hairstyle and face features etc whenver you like. The sounds of the game are equally gripping steel grinds through steel and flesh, and Orc-horns blare like wounded cattle. The battles, I like the simple skills and the easy key mapping. The characters are lovely and I enjoyed meeting and chatting to them all. Whats good? The voice acting The storyline is cool. ![]() The storyline is I have been playing this game for longer than I played Skyrim so there's a shocker for you. I payed $20 for the game, and I feel like I got what I payed for out of it, but no more. I had no issues with bugs like some of the other guys. I actually found some of the voice acting pretty lame at times, but it was average on the whole, I suppose. The three playable characters have different play styles which can accommodate most players But it's still just a hack&slash. Equipment management is pretty lacking, with a rather unfriendly equipment interface. The game play is a classic hack&slash with little variation. That being said, the story is very linear, and the same should be said about the levels. Accurate and interesting LOTR lore is what kept me wanting to play. This game is great for RPG'ers that love getting into the nitty-gritty when it comes to learning about other characters and lore of the game. The war in the north between the elves, dwarves, goblins, and Mordor forces out of Dol Guldur was gigantic and according to the histories held some of the biggest battles of the war. This game is great for RPG'ers that love getting into the nitty-gritty when it comes to learning about other characters and lore of the game. ![]()
